Review : Last year's fly animation project : Heard some good ideas on how to improve it. And will be working with the team to advance this on the back burner. Maya : Asked my class to map to Maya, paper folding aCubee model to refresh their skills. This covered 80% of the workflow process needed in Maya on a daily basis. - Viewport tumbling
- Tool xform and snapping
- UV mapping
- Texture/data pathing
Projects : Reviewed games made by previous AIE students. I want to get folks thinking about how they can improve or delta these games. The ability to move things forward positively independent of what projects they are working on. Programming, I asked students for the following Unity info: - Memory and Perf boundaries : This appears to be based on what platform Unity is targeted at : Browser, phone, console...etc.
- LOD (level of detail) between platforms. It appears likely that we may target Browsers since that may be the most reliable way to deliver our games for portfolio reviews. But on the art side, it'd be good to build to maximum fidelity, and then LOD to browsers for a distributable version. It'd be good to know what kind of loss we should account for : texture resolution, effects, lighting ...etc
Here's a link to my dropbox research folder: www.dropbox.com/sh/9e1r8w4kiwlf5xh/VosrIXnKy6In it you'll find just about everything I'm currently working on. *Shader Playground in the Unity Folder *HIK animations *Y'alls Kinect scans from the beginning of the year. -Mike
